Now part of the Female Goya Teamrider Tribe

October 23rd 2011

As of October 2011 Junko Nagoshi is part of the Goya Teamrider Tribe. Here’s what a few of us had to say, after overcoming the initial moment of speechless happiness:

“Junko is one of the most dedicated windsurfers on the planet. I see her giving it all on the flat days or big ones, up and down the coast, on the other side of the island or planet, rain or shine. She inspires me. Thank you for your trust and welcome to the team Junko!”
Francisco Goya

“When the wind is light and the waves are big, on days when I go to Ho’okipa or Kanaha and I know there will only be a few sailors out, Junko will be one of them. Her experience shows in her confidence, and her commitment to windsurfing has taken her to the top levels of performance. Junko is technical with her gear, critical, but funny and easy going as well. I’m super stoked to be working with Junko!”

“In our quest to do a better job at representing the often neglected female side of our sport I’m very excited to see Junko now singed to the team. I know we all are looking forward to developing beautiful products together and to share many waves with yet another inspiringly positive Goya personality!”

A few words from Junko herself

How long have you been windsurfing?
That must be 16 years by now.

Where did you learn?
In Japan, where I went to my university. The first day I got on the board, I immediately thought this is what I want in my life!

What gets you excited to go windsurfing?
Windsurfing is not the easiest sport. It is very challenging and there are many things to learn from, that’s what I like. Going to the beach for windsurfing for me is like going to church.

Goals in windsurfing?
To share this excitement with other people.

Why Goya?
They test their sails and boards a lot where I sail most, at Ho’okipa. You can’t go wrong with Goya! Besides many good things about the Goya equipment, I like the very enthusiastic people involved in this brand. All the riders have their established style and are ripping! Then, the Banzai is such a nice sail. Light and easy to handle in the wave. The first day I used a Goya board and a Goya sail, I was simply amazed how far windsurfing equipment has improved now. “Banzai” is a Japanese word that used when you achieve your goal. I think it is a perfect name for this sail.

Anything else you want to say?…
Big Mahalo to Francisco for adopting me as a Goya team rider! I am looking forward to work with all the team!!
