I spent last summer learning the basics, and then how to plane, and getting into the footstraps on my Volar. This spring and summer, I've been progressing onto gybes and fast tacks on my Carrera in higher winds and chop. Wonderful freeride boards; so intuitive feeling!

Hello, I was looking to touch up a few paint chips on my Volar Carbon board. I see on the product page specs, the Pantone code is 805 / 032 C. A little confusing. Is it 805C or 032C?

New Volar 4 Carbon single slanted inserts bridge the gap between inboard and outboard settings, making the new Volar lighter yet with all of the range that you need.

I learned that my footstraps can be adjusted further inboard or outboard by simply using the inner or outer hole. Great board!

Hi Goya team! I\'m trying to figure out how to correctly use the anti-twist washers that came with my board. When I put the footstrap screw through the circulra part of the washer, the peg doesn\'t quite reach to a nearby footstrap hole, especially on the rear footstraps. I can send some photos if that would help. Something\'s not right. Are these the right washers, or am I not installing them correctly? Thanks!

Response: Aloha?Jane,

Mahalo for choosing our gear and letting me know about the anti?twist mismatch. This happened on just a handful of boards last season.

The quickest fix is to drill one extra hole so the tab lines up perfectly:

Mark the spot where the anti?twist pin should sit.

Start with a small pilot bit, then open it up with the correct?size bit for a clean finish.

That usually solves it in minutes.

I had a fantastic time sailing my 130 Volar with a 9.5 Mark 2 (incredibly stable sail!).

But now I read that the 130 is only rated for sails up to 9,0 ?

Did I possibly cause irreversible damage to the Volar by exceeding the sail size rating?

I hope Francisco won\'t be mad at me for being so careless!

Yes, the gear does have a wider window for the more advance riders that what we state, but we have to play safe as some riders are still progressing from the early stages or have stronger currents to deal with.

Finally we couldn't wait until next spring.
So I bought through Ralph (thanks again to him) the Goya Volar Carbon 110 2022.
I had no doubts but after 3 sessions, we can tell you that we find this board great for the wife and me.
It's 200% fun to ride and accessible for my wife and me with the multi-position footstraps.
Why didn't we try it before?

I am in the process of repairing the deck of a 2023 volar carbon. I\'d like to touch up the red surface. Is that done originally with paint? If so, can I buy some for touch up?

I own a Volar 115 from 2022 and when I switched from my former old board which was around 12 years old I was totaly stoked by the ease, comfort, stability, softness and control of the Volar. It makes planing and jibing much easier and as my big board I’m one of the first on the water who is planing with 6.0 sail and also like the 5.3 on the Volar as well. I’m 70 kg, windsurfing most at spots at the baltic sea on flat water with wind chop but no waves and sails from 4.2 till 6.0. As I don’t have the chance quite often to be on the water and having some knee issues I love lighter winds from 4 till lower 5 beaufort when I’m having much fun and am windsurfing quite okay, often making the jibe and „surfing“ up and down the chop a little, as well as doing small chop hops.
Now when the wind picks up from upper 5 till upper 6 bft I’m not feeling comfortable anymore on my RRD Freestylewave 95 from 2009. The RRD is then starting to hit the water surface in the front of the board what makes it harder to control for me Unfortunately I did not have the chance to try your One 95 yet, so maybe you could help me further: Searching for a really easy, controlled and very soft feeling board for flat water and high winds with my light weight, would you recommend the One 3 95? The new One 12 looks fantastic, but I understand it’s also more wave oriented which I don’t need for my use only in flat water. With the focus on ease of use maybe the One 3 would fit better? Or are there any plans for a new small Volar in sizes around 90 liter in the near future? 🙂

With 70 kg, I would say that you need an 85-liter board. This is the board you use on your 4.2 and 4.7/5.0, so this should be the size you should be on and probably why all the other boards feel overpowering you too much.

Can you try one? The smaller boards, with their reduced width and rounder deck, will give you much more comfort on your knees and more fun.

Thank you so much for the goya volar!! I think it is such an amazing board in all angles possible! I have been using it alot this summer in Greece and has been my favorite.
But i am moving to a place with alot more chop/wavey sea (North sea) and I really would appreciate a reccommendation. I am not advanced yet (waterstart yes, harnass yes, just getting in footstraps, 50 kg, and riding volar 110)
What would be in your opinion a good follow up board, for an intermediate in more choppy and wavey conditions, that is still a bit stable and a good transition board from a freeride board? Your answer would mean a lot!!! Thanks in advance (if there are a couple of options as well let me know that would be great)

Yes, the North Sea does get choppy and with some good current, but with your lighter weight and experience, it should be a smooth transition. I would say that you are ready to move into our ONE Freewave model, this board offers a bit more volume on the back and rail of the boards, making it a bit more stable and capable than our pure wave boards and with the ability to ride it with outboard or inboard straps and as a single fin or thruster. What wind strength/size sail will you be using the board on?

I am teaching m children progress and was thinking on a Volar 160. They now sail in a windsurfer LT, ages 15 and 17. I am looking for a board in which they can learn to plane in the footstraps, learn water start and, importantly for us, they can use to sail in non-planning conditions which makes them feel safe. I saw the big Volar is relatively long, with a long flat section in the bottom, and seems to have a relatively low rocker, all of which I guess would help when non planning. I also appreciate the strong build option at a lower price point. We sail mostly in relatively light winds, the sails I used the most myself are 8.4 and 7.7 sqm.

Should I buy the biggest Volar or choose a size a bit smaller?

Me llamo Carlos, he comprado esta mañana una Goya Volar 145.
Me gustaría saber cuál es la mejor posición para poner los footstraps. Mido 1.80cm y peso 90kg. Mi nivel es básico, me he comprado la tabla para retomar el windsurf. Cuando era un adolescente planeaba con los pies en los straps, pero hace muchos años de esto. La principal vela que utilizaré será una 7.8m.

El strap de atras mas atras reducirán el area mojada del fondo de la tabla, pero también requiere un poco mas de técnica mantener el planeo cuando el viento baja. Lo mismo para el pie de mastil. Cuando mas atras, menos superficie tocando el agua, pero se requiere un poco mas de técnica para mantener el planeo y tabla balanceada cuando baja el viento.
El strap de adelante lo podes poner en el tercero de acuerdo a tu altura. Esto te dará mejor posición y control.

Para tu altura, te recomiendo mínimo 30 de Harness Lines.

Got Volar-130 pro (carbon) in 2020, this was my first 'smaller' board after I learned to windsurf and plane on my first board (large Techno 185) and also got to ride superlight wind JP SLW 165 (also foiling on it). Actually, I was looking for Startboard Carve 135, but that was not in stock for too long and I settled on Volar that got in stock first. And I don't regret it! Volar Pro/Carbon is very light and gets planing effortlessly, generally it does not even require pumping. Friend of mine got Carve 135. Carve is somewhat wider (82cm vs 77cm) and thicker at the tail, so it is more stable, but you have to pump it few times to get planing, and it is somewhat bumpier on chops and slightly slower (due to width?). I do like Carve too, but Volar would be my choice (maybe because I got used to it...) In Indiana wind is gusty and you have to be prepared for non-planing conditions, so smaller volume sinkers are not suitable most of the time. I used Volar with 8.1 (most of the time) and 6.7 Ezzy Hydra Sport, as well as Ezzy Elite 6.1, 5.3, 4.2 - works well, except for lighter winds and 8.1 sail I got a longer fin (51cm Select V-Max V4), makes huge difference, gets planing quicker and with much fewer spin-outs. Also paired it with Tectonics Weed Demon II 41cm fin for weedy condition for 8.1and 6.7 sails, so far it is far the best compared to my other smaller weed fins with larger sails, though with stronger winds / smaller sails BlackProject Hydro Antiweed 45cm and even Blackproject siren 22.5cm work well. This year my friend got the newer 2022 version of Volar 130 carbon. It is similar to mine, but slightly wider and thicker at the tail so it feels more stable. Other friend of mine got Volar pro 145 for light wind and large sails, got tired of using his 2012 72cm wide Tabou Rocket 130 in light winds, he was always the last one to get planing on that narrower board even with his sail being the largest (8.5 Turbo GT).
Disclaimer: I learned windsurfing by watching youtube tutorials, so I am not an expert.
PS: photo is from Canadian Hole (Outer Banks, Avon). To my surprise I was the fastest on my Volar with 8.1 amongst others on wingfoils and windsurfs, though I was losing on jibes, need to watch more youtubes...

We have been enjoying riding the new gear this year. We took a trip to Bonaire for the 1st time, and rented gear from the Dunkerbeck center specifically to try the Goya stuff. First, that is a magical place for flat-water cruising! We had good wind the week there and got to sail everything from 5.3-7.4. I was duly impressed with the gear, and have to say one of the most memorable & surprising sessions was on the last day when the wind had dropped off. I decided to rig big and take a last sail before leaving the next day on a Carrera 130 & Nexus 7.4. I hadn't sailed gear that big in a long time, but had an absolute blast. I believe the larger 5 battened recreational sails to be one of the most challenging to design and build well given its natural constraints. Hats off to Jason & the team though, as that was a very impressive sail. I tried a couple of the other brands side by side against it just to see if all sails had become that good, but it really stood out with its balance, power, and stability. It was good coming home knowing we were getting into some great sails.

I ended up going all in with sails from 3.7-6.6, masts, and four boards. I figure no time like the present, right. Boards like the Quad 89 I assumed would just rip, which it does, & the Volar 110 virtually jibes itself, but the big stand-out is the One3 105. Hands down, one of the most fun boards I have ever sailed! I had tried one of the older versions in Bonaire, and honestly was not super impressed. It was decent, but felt very traditional in terms of planing up and quickness. The new version feels very updated & does everything amazingly well. I've sailed it lit 4.7 up to 5.9, and can't wipe the smile off after sailing it!

Here's a pic from our last sail of the year Dec 12th - water temp was in the 40's, air temp in the 30's, occasionally snowing, but blowing 20-30. I probably would not have gone, but my son was home from school & really wanted to get a session. Man, I am glad we went - super fun session with him & a friend on the water!

Hello! I'm deciding between a Volar 145L vs 160L wood construction, to work with my 8.7m2 out here on Okanagan lake.
I'm 6'1 and 175 lbs, and intermediate (can water start in big winds, planing in harness is great but i dont use footstraps yet). I think both of these boards would work well with this large sail, but heard in an interview that the 160L model received a graphics update but did not have the same shaping updates as the 145L, that the 160L is unchanged from the 2019 board. I cant find pictures of this model online, could you comment on if it has the new squash tail, and which board you would recommend overall, I have a feeling that the 145L will be a good size that I won't grow out of, but maybe the 160L is better for such a large sail and would plane earlier. I do already have a PB 52cm fin to try to match with the big sail, so that difference between models may not matter so much for me.

Thank you for writing over and considering our boards.

Based on your build, I would go for the Volar 145. This new shape is a bit bigger in volume.

I’m sure that you will be using the straps in no time; just start by opening them up big and placing them further forward & inside option, this will make it easier to access them at first, and then you can move them back, and closer to the rail as your confidence builds up.

You can adjust the washers to make the strap wider (to start and with shoes) or narrower for added grip as you feel more comfortable in them.

Like everything, enjoy the whole process as there will always be something to improve.

Try setting the mast foot as far back as possible unless the tail is sinking in too much.

I’m also pretty sure you will benefit from a smaller sail eventually. This will allow you to ride a smaller, lighter mast that I believe will get you planning just as quickly or sooner.

Hallo, I was in El Medano a and used your board Volar Carbon, it was really good, thank you, it helped me a lot to enjoy my stay, I´m beginner in the ocean windsurfing and it was really easy to ride the board, it jumps quickly to plain and it helped me in jibes. I was sailing in moderate conditions up to 25 knots and as I have 100 kg, I used 145 l version with 7,8 sail. Next time I will try a smaller one 🙂

is Volar a good board for the intermediate sailors looking to grow with the board? Is it held back in the speed department compared to similar boards in this category? The Volar is advertised as a learning board for the entire family which is my concern. If this is true it does not make sense that it is an intermediate sailor board that wants to push to more limits.

Thank you for reaching over.

The Volar shares the same rocker as our Carrera, Bolt, and Proton, our full-on racing board, so you got nothing holding you back here.

So you can set the straps on the outer position and trim on the rail and fin as on a race board. Or you can set the straps to the inner position, and through the added width, you can have an intermediate or beginning rider have a great time, too, with a fast and early planning hull.

VOLAR PRO is the lightest and tightest of all, with a full carbon deck lamination, top-of-the-line fin, sanded paint job, Carbon Fin, etc.

VOLAR is the middle ground, with a more ding-resistant shell, and fiberglass fin.

SURF is the school/trainer option with a center plastic fin, full EVA deck pad, carrying handle, etc.

If you are an intermediate to advanced rider, I will go for the first two options.

The SURF option is ideal for people learning the sport, kids, schools, etc.

I used the Goya boards at Bonaire, Dunkerbeck Pro Center at the end of February 2020. the 115 volar is fabulous, used with 7.2 and 7.8 sails. I liked the 130 avev 8.5 sails less, a little sluggish.
the 115 reminds me of another fabulous board, the 115 fsw fanatic of the 2011 years.

Switched all my boards to GOYA this summer (Volar 145, Proton 116, Air 100) and feeling totally happy with them.

For me, the Volar Pro 145 with a 7,2 Mark 2 is the ideal weapon for light-wind planing.
Put the straps on the outer areas and you will have excellent control even in those choppy waves, we have in my home-area around Fehmarn (Baltic Sea).

Equipped with the absolutely brilliant MFC Liquid Pro 46 standard fin (which comes with the board), the Volar is the perfect toy for a long, enjoyable day on the water.

And back on land: "Tyson, the dog" is always keeping an eye on it.

Used 105 at the Dunkerbeck Centre in Bonaire. Excellent board. Super fast into and out of the turns, rails really well. I thought it was fun than the bolt. Very different from the JP Freeride boards I'm used to. Ordering one...

Light, fast, carves easily, and handles the chop with no problems. An all round great freeride board that'll last me many many years, and you can't beat the price of these for what you get compared to other manufacturers.

Volar is for us the best freeride board you can have, our customers love it, so far only positive reactions, quality is great, feel that the bond between foam and fiber is outstanding. MFC Footstraps are great also.

I had a incredible wave session on the Volar 105 on Fall… This board I bought you for my girlfriend is simply the best freeride board I ever try! It's so smooth, so easy !!! Her speed is good, jibe abilities are amazing, and with a small wave fin, she becomes a board that allows you to make very good wavesailing!!! Waow!!! Congrats guys !!!

When are you going to make this board foil compatible?
I’ve been drooling over it since the last colourful design but sadly I can’t buy one until it’s a foil board.

The Volar 130 twinned with a Mark 8.5 makes a perfect combo for all the light wind summer days we get in the UK. The only people going faster than me in a straight line in those conditions are the sailors on the specialist race/slalom kit, but my combo is much more fun to sail and much easier to rig, gybe and handle.

On flat water the 130 remains surprisingly capable down to 6m conditions so it is ideal if the wind is a bit gusty as it has plenty of volume to coast through the lulls. A fun and versatile board.

Did first Volar 115 sail last night with 7.5 Cheetah bagged out and 46 LP fin, in 10-20mph winds. Felt great! Easy to sail along, and really sets you up for a good planing jibe. Definitely tippy at rest compared to Rocket Wide 138 87cm, but only a few falls before uphauling successfully. Hit 23mph, compared to usual 25mph on Rocket Wide and 19-21mph on Hula. Cut through chop better, and felt easier on the knees. The 72 width only felt a little more difficult to get on plane compared to 87 width board. Added NSI medium nose pad.
