| A few words about yourself. | I’ve been working for a French windsurfing magazine for a long long time, editor, photographer and in charge of all the gear’s testing… I never quit windsurfing, even if in 2006, I decided to go back into aeronautics (I used to be a student pilot in the French Air Force…), and now, I’m working as an airline pilot for a Caledonian company based in Noumea, the perfect place to catch good waves either for windsurfing or surfing, on my days off ! |
| What makes your ride? | The unique feeling of speed and carving over the sea, riding the ocean when the swell is growing… and approaching the numerous and beautiful outside reefs offered all around the Caledonian west coast… Purely amazing. |
| How much do you love to windsurf? | More than anything else, when you’re out on the moving water, it’s priceless, the combination of speed, carving in the pocket of the water walls and jumping in the air, the whole package is like a perfect snowboarding day in the fresh powder… but even better !! Windsurfing = love = happiness = a pure joy division ! |
| What is your most memorable session? | Last October, 10 to 15 knots max, tenia, 3 friends out there, glassy waves looking like big walls, over masts sets… scary and insane in the same time. Huge moments. |
| What inspires you? | Sharing good sessions and experiences with my friends, meeting new people on new spots… Enjoying life and staying as close as possible to the Ocean. |
| Describe your gear and the conditions you use it in. | After nearly three years of riding with the different Goya Banzai’s, I’m now using the new Goya “3 battens sail” Fringe from 4.2 to 5.0 m2, mostly on the reef with its “perfect” surfsailing conditions, but also on the few rough spots we got here close to my work basis at the Magenta airport (Magenta beach : onshore wave spots with a shallow reef in the middle of the bay !). I’m using quad (big waves) or thruster (smaller waves and onshore conditions) waveboards, shaped by my friend Fabien Vollenweider. |
| What does riding for Goya mean to you? | Riding the sails of Francisco who was one of my inspiration in waveriding is like a dream. Each time I’m sailing with them makes me remember a wonderful session we had together in Baja California, and especially, the moment I saw and I shot with my camera Cisco scoring a masterpiece frontside air table top !!!! The sequence is printed forever in my mind (as well as it was in this double page magazine… year 1999… eternal… Time is flying !!!!!!!). |
