Stretch Control.

Circular Leech.
The Circular Leech Outline concept delivers additional power, especially in the larger sizes where efficient drive is critical. X Pro is built identically to the Pro version, but replaces the main window panel with full X-Ply construction. Looking for some advice on the 5.9 Banzai. You know San Diego is float and ride, with some super nice DTL in late fall through spring, but lots of slogging….
I have a 6.3 Banzai, but it really is too “big” for my 99L Goya thruster 4. The center of effort is sort of not right for that board.
I have been using a 5.7 Banzai, but it’s just a bit underpowered, so a 5.9 would be “just right”.
So for float-and-ride with a lot of non-planing, pumping to get on a wave, then DTL, should I go “Banzai Max” or “Banzai”?
We just had epic days in Local Max, 4.7 on 82L boards, head high surf, just 1 hour from Del Mar.

Banzai with 4 battens will be lighter and have a better F&R feel.
The new 5.6 rigs on a 400 mast also, and the 5.9 you can use it with a 400 top also, which makes the rig feel even lighter and more maneuverable
The Banzai Max has a bit more riding stability in power-up conditions, so different riding, more free wave

Yes, the 5.6 has been tuned for MARCILIO’s competition needs at World Cups such as Tenerife and Sylt. Much more refined and a better all-around sail than our previous 5.7.
About sail sizes, I would start with the 5.6 giving your weight, boards, and riding conditions.

Aloha, I'm looking for the right mast for my Banzai 11 Pro. Should I go with 340 or 370? I'm 70/75kg.

For the Banzai 11 Pro 4.0, the "best" mast depends on your preferred feel, but the 340 is often preferred for pure wave performance in this size, especially for mid to lighter-weight riders like you.
Here is the breakdown to help you decide: 340 Mast (Recommended for Maneuverability): Using the shorter mast makes the rig feel softer and lighter in the hands. This setup allows the sail to breathe more, giving you that "fingertip" control ideal for down-the-line wave riding and maneuvers. It is often the preferred choice for riders who want the sail to feel as neutral as possible.
370 Mast (Recommended for Stability/Power): Rigging the 370 mast will result in a slightly stiffer foil. This provides a more direct feel and can offer better stability in powered-up, gusty conditions or for heavier riders who need a solid platform to push against.
Also, keep in mind that our masts are interchangeable, so you can install the 370 bottom to add stability and mix it with the 340 top for improved handling and lightness.
I currently sail an old 86 custom thruster and an old custom 4 94 and my big board is a Goya 104 custom8. I’ve sailed your boards since the original sunrise logos. On Goya Banzai HD sails now. Your gear has given me endless years of fun. I’m 60 next year and still compete in masters in Uk and Ireland when I can.

Thanks for the advice about the 100% carbon masts...switched to the 370 top/400 bottom (from the full 370) on the 4.7 (surf all carbon) and it worked really well. I like how the sail feels like it disappears once I'm powered on the wave, allowing me to focus surfing that sweet new (green) quad (88). I hope the 5.0 i have ordered is the right choice as that's my "big" sail for light air days...hoping the weight and reflex (paired with the 100% mast) makes it sing. I had earlier bought the 5.0 11 but felt it was maybe not bombproof enough for my ability so i sold it and grabbed a 5.0 23 bonzai.
I noticed instantly on the 5.0 23 bonzai a bump in planing and speed switching from the ezzy mast to the 100% carbon.
A massive mahalo to TEAM Goya for creating real-world slashing products leading to joy on the water.

I got my new Banzai sails recently, 3.5 & 4.0 pro carbon, and 4.5 pro
Didn't get to sail yet, but I rigged them just to give it a look.
On the 4.0 I tried both masts, 370 and 340
With the 340 my 30cm extension is a touch too short; I can't get the sail to release enough (as well marked by the dot)
So I would actually need a 32cm extension.
But I read, in the feedback section (about what mast for a 4.7), that it's possible to mix mast base and top.
Would you confirm that in my case too ?
Could I use the 370 base with the 340 top on my 4.0 ?

Yes, a 32 extension would be best if you are lighter and more maneuver-oriented. You could also do a combo of the 370 bottom and 340 top, which will give you more draft at the bottom of the sail while keeping the open/lighter top.

Aloha Christoph! Thank you for your stoked on our gear. The 400 mast will give you more power and draft stability on the powered up days. The 370 mast will give you more lightness and maneuvability. It can also be rigged with the Goya 400 Base and 370 top, getting a bit of both worlds.

We are sailing the new Banzai 11 since a view days here in Mauritius. It feels so light and loose. Even the 5.0 gives you the feeling of almost „nothing in hands“. In light wind it was very easy to pump into the wave. Down the line it feels very soft and smooth. And the colour (yellow) can be seen easily and is an eyecatcher on the water. A true masterpiece of Goya ?.

You probably already did this, but you will notice a few wrinkles on the batten above the boom. These wrinkles occur from the missing tension on the batten tensioner.
You want to tension the batten until there are no wrinkles and do another half-turn. The two bottom battens require the most tension, the second batten from the top just a little less, and the top batten even less as otherwise too much tension will add profile to them and you want them straight for the air to release of the leech.

Hi, just received my new quiver – thruster 4 86L & Banzai 11 (3.7/4.2/4.7/5.3). First test yesterday in Leucate (France) with 3.7, sunny and windy!!! It was fantastic. Easy to rig, soft sail with good support in strong wind, very pleasant. The board is super light and responsive. I need to work on adjustments on the mast foot rail as well as the stance. Thank you for producing such good boards. I loved it, aloha from France

The batten tensioners with the hooks on the side is a really nice feature for simplicity of removing the rope and batten vs the half moon shape other brands use, those half moon things force you to crinkle the monofilm to remove and replace the darn thing, these hook type with Goya are really nice ? big win boom shaka
Also the Goya battens are different and feel light, I was told by other brand "they (battens) are all the same" that is hogwash, y un monton grande de mierda, not true at all. I can see with the Goya battens looking in the center area where the batten is cut to size it's solid throughout the diameter, vs other brand is a white flaky dusty almost chalky with visible glass fiber splinters

With everybody out and about on their summer adventures I just wanted to find a way to thank you all as a team for allowing me to be so well equipped for Fiji. Not only did I have a blast riding those incredible waves but I'm also really stoked to have won. It was a really special event for many reasons.
I'm so grateful for the gear, it was on point. The custom board and fins, the sails... as beautiful as the conditions looked, there were also some challenges. Light wind, current, top turn timed a little late... 😉 and I feel like you all helped me overcome them through the gear and your support. So THANK YOU!!

As a point of comparison, I took a 2020 4.7 Banzai out the following day with similar conditions, in the stronger sections I could really appreciate the preciseness of the Banzai (vs the stability of the Eclipse). It was in the transitions that I missed the new construction, since I'm so light the weight reduction really makes a difference.
I keep having days that fluctuate wildly between 5.3 and 4.7, so I've ordered a Banzai 5.0 to hopefully cover that range better. It will be interesting to compare and contrast the new Banzai, vs the Eclipse, vs the previous Banzai.

The 2022/23 Banzai X sails are amazing.
You seem to have made a softer and lighter sail which feels really good.
It also feels a little more forgiving when you are loaded up coming off the top and when you land aerials too.
Plus its much easier to unrig with the slightly larger luff pocket which will mean less creases in the window and therefore a longer life.
My sails have are super tough and this gives me the confidence to ride the waves I want.

Hi Alex,
great to hear from you. I believe you will enjoy the sail more on a 400 mast if you have a long enough extension.
Another option would be having the bottom of a 430 combined with a 400 top. This will have a bit of a blend between the draft stability and lightness at the top of the sail.
Please note that all of our masts (Ultra/100%/80%/70% & 50%) are interchangeable except for our XXL 90%. Those are also interchangeable, but not with the other carbon content masts.

This sail is awsome. I still haven't use it to serious wave conditions, only in bump&jump. It is so light in hands, very powerfyll but very handly. It depowers very quickly when needed, and accelerates like hell !!! It is also very good looking - especially in this orange- red - yelow combination. I love it.

The 2022 Banzai Pro ROCKS! Same light in your hand feel, yet all the power when you need. Started with a 4.5 then went all in with a 4.7 & 5.0. Biggest surprise: durability - holding up well after some serious beat-downs - thanks for the beefier luff sleeve material!

I went for the banzai pro 4.0 and 4.7, year 2021. A sweet and nice dream! They got power, but at the same time you feel like you are holding such a light sail on your hand….they come with two holes for rigging them, depending on stronger or lighter wind condition (so the are versatile too).
I got my new quiver of Banzai . The sails are amazing. The biggest improvement from 20 version is the light weight , amazing colours and rigging range . The sails respond very well to downhaul adjustments . Awesome job on the 22/23 sails goya team

Still buzzing from my last high wind session- 79 l custom 4 20/21 and 4.0 banzai 20/21. The board ok- superb I have said that before, fast, snappy and very well balanced volume distribution. Imho the secret is hidden in the bottom mix and transition of concaves... But anyway the thing that blew my mind was the Banzai Pro. The next day the wind increased 14- 17 m/s. I skipped my 3.7 and went to my, ink/yellow 3.4. Everyone was on 3.7-4.2 depending on weight. I used the bottom clew eyelet with a very small amount of downhaul-and bang! catch me if you can !!-I hardly felt I had anything in my hands( I have to say that I had the goya rdm 100 340 2022 and the goya superskinny boom. Then next day the wind dropped 12-16m/s but the waves were better- I was lazy and went for the 3.4 again to see what happens. I just changed to the upper clew eyelet- and bang- the moment I stepped I was on the plane blasting, passing my mates on 4.2-4.5 s and I am not that light- 73 kg. Amazing adaptability and reactivity- two sails in one. I think the reactiveness comes from the vast area of biply and xply- if the xply strip was scrim it would not be so... I am so stoked with the banzais. This is it for now. Looking forward to the 2022 goya quads.

I got Banzai X Pro's 2021 3.4, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5, with 85kg I can pick the best sail at any windy condition starting from 17 kts. They are very smooth and good to control, yet powerful enough for early planing. Also for safety, in grey Noth Sea conditions the new bright colors work well so you get notified. Great combination with the Custom 4 Pro 2021
I got this little vid from my friend from Wales which is a good testament to the strength of your rigs. It was a light onshore day so it wasn't easy once you were locked in to the wave and very difficult to get back out once you got caught inside. At least a 30 min exerçise. I lost momentum when I kicked off and got caught out by the next one. Everyone thought all the gear was going to be totally destroyed but only a busted batten and a tiny rip in the window. Pretty amazing I say. This is exactly why I love using your gear.

...Vastly improves overall sail durability , also this new scrim holds shape better- makes the sails feel more stable,,, much lighter and quieter in the hands while sailing.
Also, one more detail about the new scrim materials is that for 2020, all colors have been re-vised to bring mocha more richness and vibrancy to the appearance of the sails, particularly on the water. Fashion? Yes…,,, but more importantly for me is the safety factor- you can spot and identify the new 2020 sails from great distances and this is huge piece of mind when it’s your partner, kid or good friend out there windsurfing in low light conditions.
This info is already listed in the materials, but I repeat it here so that I can emphasize to all of you here on the team that these scrim material changes alone mark a huge step/change in the sails development.
It bears repeating and reminding.
Also on all sails-
Weight aloft (up high) in the sails has been reduced with new construction details,,, this improves the lightweight handling feel of the sails through their wind range.
Also, Bi-ply is HUGE feature in the sails and it should be mentioned at every opportunity, so I’ll mention it here-
It is a huge step up from standard mono film. Bi-ply is a UV protected laminated clear film that lasts about 3x as long as mono film for UV (cracking) and also is much more resistant to hard creases. Bi-ply provides massive value.

I'd like to add one more question regarding the rigging of the bigger sails (5.0 and 5.3): I'm a bit confused with the outhaul tension. When I try to rig the sail according to the specs, I found the sail quite 'deep'. The sail is touching the boom as far as to the harness lines.
I don't feel it to be much of a behaviour issue, but I'm wondering what's the nominal setting.
Is it ok ? Or should I apply more tension at the outhaul ? Would the sail feel lighter this way ?

My girlfriend and I are sharing a bunch of 5 Banzais and are really happy with them.
Sizes are : 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.3. We have 3 masts : 340, 370 and 400 and 30cm extensions.
Still, we're dealing with an issue : in some rare cases, we want to rig 5.0 and 5.3. Our current set of masts won't allow us to do so, as both sails require 400+ luff (414 and 424). We'd like to extend our masts set with one half mast only.
What do you guys at Goya recommend ? Should we go for a 430 base that we would mount with a 370 top (215+185+15ext) ?

Got my new 2019 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0. Amazing sails as always, i've been blown away by power, control and handling.
But the new 4.0 having a 370 luff on a 370 mast needs a 0cm mastbase, that's not an option when using the US-System, so i got a 6cm gap sailpulley to base that i can't avoid.
A vario top would be nice for this size or a little more lufflength.
Would be nice to see the yellow from the powersail available in any other tooyellow and white.. wonderful combinaiton
I got the Banzai X pro 5.5, it's an amazing sail with great performance but few things are not clear to me when it came to tuning:
The boom size according to the chart (also on the sail and the bag) is 170/157 but when I tuned my sail I needed to make the boom 176 (with mast ezzy skinny 400 and extension of 30), is it a mistake? should it be 175/170?
I am absolutely loved in this sail from the first touch. Recently I took 4.7 Banzai with Goya mast 90% and I am amazed how powerful and easy to ride with the wind between 25-40 kn and bump and jump conditions. Very easy to calm down when overpowered, exceptional in a power jibe, precise and easy to switch.
Very fast, but fully controllable all the time.
Best sail I used till now.

The Banzai is an extremely powerful sail. I was really surprised by how much power it gives the first time I used it. It is still light, not a heavy sail as you would expect from a 4 batten sail. It always rig well. It has a big range, you can stand it even with very strong wind. Overall, a great sail.

Just great feedback for the Banzais and Fringes, Banzais feeling a bit softer (due to decreased mast length I guess) and the Fringes more stable and therefore having a bigger range.

I have banzai for many years. And they still perform incredibly well. Would like to have seen the yellow and blue more for sale.
Our season is almost over now and we have had lots of great sailing all summer at Margaret River.
I am truly loving the Banzai X 5.7.
It is without a doubt the best sail I have ever used.
So good in fact I haven't even tried the brand new 5.7 Fringe I got at the same time yet.

Sailed again yesterday in pretty solid wind with the 5.7 Banzai X (90kg kiters were out with 7m2 kites, no other windsurfers).
I really liked the stability at the top end of the and it was probably a real solid 22 knots which is quite a bit for a 5.7.
I am yet to see how it performs in the super-light wind but I'm sure it gunna be great given the performance of the previous ones.
And its truly good to see less pink in the sail mate.
I think adding the X-ply to the window is the one smart move.
Another one of the greatest things with the banzai is changing the clews while sailing.
This allows you go out through the current with the sail really full and then depower to ride or simply adjust the sail to changes in the wind.
Just like reefing down the sail of a yacht.
One thing that seems apparent on using the sails twice is that the X-ply window seem less likely to crease when rigging and un-rigging which will definitely help extend the life of the window and the sail.
I'm absolutely happy with my new Banzais 4.2 & 5.3, that replace my old sails (3.7, 4.2., 4.7 & 5.3) because the trimm possibilities. I proved yesterday in Denmark with a lot of wind my old 3.7 but my 4.2 ist better. Now i can sail with 2 sails and 2 masts to replace my old 4 sails with 3 masts.
Amazing sails, lot of power but very easy to handle and esthetically a masterwork, beautiful colors in great combination, nice details and top-quality-material.

5 years with Banzai and you did the Magic again.
2016 is the best Banzai you have made so far.
Tried the 4.5 yesterday in very gusty and demanding conditions. From 10ms to like 15/16 ms.
Dead onshore to cross offshore in just one session.
The sail just felt right in the hands from first seconds on the water.
Crisp, fast, with good power and easy depower - when on the wave.
It feels like a Banzai 2014 version with a good twist at the top end - very well done.
I have been speaking with 4 customers - who have sailed theirs as well
- all 4 are over excited by the feeling of the 2016 Banzai.
The simplistic design and bright colors are fantastic as well - it easy to understand, why the warehouse in Spain are sold out 🙂

By the time i sent the email through Goya website i noticed that the Goya mast section of the website had been updated with all the information, i.e. the 99% and 70%.
All is clear now and good to hear you have no intention of changing the curve, why change something which clearly works.
I have the 90% in 430 and 400 …and just ordered a 370 90%…..I also believe that the 90% made in the US is way stronger than the 70% made in Italy.
Sailing in breaking waves 90% is the way to go.
I’m very very happy with my Banzai 2015…but couldn’t resist and pre-ordered a 5.5 2016, looks like you’ve added more dacron in luff to make it slightly softer in feel.
I use both clew rings when rigging as i sail more side on shore, side shore conditions ..it gives me nice power…if a bit overpowered, i use the bottom ring …and if sailing nice side off conditions (rare) then it’s lower ring.
It was hard choice between 5.5 and 5.3 ..but as both rig on a 430 i went 5.5 for low end performance…the thinking here is that if using lower ring and still a handful then it’s time to go on 5.0 and it makes sail selection easier ..sometimes too much choice is no good.
I switched brand sail earlier this year after 10 years on N.... … when I put my Banzai order in... the shop gave me a S... , so I went on a 5.3 S... on demo…had one full session on it …previously i had a few reaches on my friend ’s Banzai 4.5 and the choice was very clear….no contest Banzai was the way to go.
