A few words about yourself.I love board sports and being active. I spend a lot of time outdoors and on the water having fun. I’m a very competitive person which helps drive me to be the best I can be in life.
What makes your ride?Knowing that I have sailed the best I can whilst having fun at the same time.
How much do you love to windsurf? It’s all I have done since I was 8 years old! It’s what keeps me going and keeps me motivated about life. The first thing I look at every day is the forecast, and if its windy then I’m out on the water regardless of what I am supposed to be doing!
What is your most memorable session? There are so many memorable sessions, that’s one of the best things about windsurfing. There is something special about windsurfing at my home spot for sure, but most memorable sessions are definitely from Cape Town; a full day of sailing, ending with a sunset session with the boys for ‘gentlemen’s hour’, followed by beers and a Braai…
What inspires you?People who are motivated to get up and push themselves in everything they do.
Describe your gear and the conditions you use it in.I’m using the Goya Custom 4 89 for pretty much all my sailing at the moment as it’s wintertime and we get a lot of wave conditions at my local spots. This board literally covers everything from side-off to side-on, big waves to small mushy waves…it’s amazingly versatile! For sails, I’m really enjoying the power and direct feeling from the Banzai. Also, it’s wind range is insane! I’m also enjoying getting to know the Fringe in the larger sizes because it’s so light and soft that it makes a big sail feel small. Once the summertime comes, I will get out on the freestyle and freeride gear for some fun and blasting in the sun.
What does riding for Goya mean to you?I grew up watching windsurfing videos of Francisco and the Quatro guys, coupled with seeing them in all the magazines really pushing the sport to the max and fully sending it with style. A brand that is still owned and run by the legendary name written on it really gives it kudos, so to be riding for the brand now is pretty amazing!
