Feeling.

The Banzai Surf has a light and neutral feel with the lift centered.

Construction.

Main window panel: 6 mil Dimension-Polyant X-Ply ® film, featuring black Spectra yarns, an Ultra-PE fiber that provides high modulus stretch resistance and high tensile tear strength.

Upper window panels: 5 mil Dimension-Polyant X-Ply ® film, featuring black Polyester yarns, designed for reduced stretch and increased tear resistance.

Upper body color panels: 2.5 mil Scrim from Dimension-Polyant is a polyester scrim plus X-PLY ® which are designed for reduced weight while still offering reduced stretch of a traditional X-PLY ® only product.

Foot/Tack panel: 4 mil Aramid Scrim has an upgraded scrim with larger denier fibers, while still keeping the high tenacity aramid X-PLY ®. It has a much greater tear and puncture resistance at the highest impact of pure wave riding.

Description.

A focus on maximum maneuverability and control in surf and surf like conditions. This all new design has a very neutral feel. You are free to draw your own lines on the wave and surf exactly how you want. Effortless drive and lightness allowing you to sail for hours.

Banzai Surf is a bit more high aspect with a shorter boom compared to Banzai 11 and Banzai Max this combined with the lower and more centered positioned lift gives you a balanced neutral feel for maximum control and maneuverability. This also makes the sail feel super light in your hands allowing you to sail for longer and be in complete control when wave riding. The power never pulls too much or too little but is always there when you need it.

What happened to the Fringe and the Guru?

When we developed the Banzai Surf, we considered especially those sailors loving the Fringe and the Guru, including ourselves. The Fringe was Kai Lenny’s favorite sail for riding light wind waves. Francisco Goya chose the Guru in all conditions. Jason Diffin developed and loved both.

The Banzai Surf addresses all those dreams, and then some. If you doted on the Fringe or the Guru you will feel the same affection for the Banzai Surf.

But how does it compare to its predecessors? The Banzai Surf is more maneuverable, with added forward drive, higher range and lighter weight. There is not a single box that the Banzai Surf didn’t check superior to Fringe or Guru. Compared to the regular Banzai the Banzai Surf has a pronounced neutral feel.

We are excited for you to experience this all new sail. Seeing how much people love it, we are sure so will you.

Speed.

Coming soon.

Outline.

Banzai Surf is more of a high aspect outline with a shorter length boom, compared to Banzai 11 and Banzai Max.

Agility.

Maximum maneuverability and control. Effortless drive and lightness. Very neutral feel.

Highlights

Function and form.

Warp Carbon Stretch Control

Massively increases the stability and range of our sails by keeping the low section full, the mid section stable and the top section properly twisting. Resulting in a super light handling sail with a highly comfortable feeling. All new Warp Carbon tendons ensure minimum stretch and crimp, while allowing for lightest and most efficient patching.

EPOXY CNC Battens

Lightweight, CAD-shaped, CNC machined, ultra-durable, custom thickness, tailored taper battens.

Double Stitching

Around the main window, providing torsional strength, increased durability by reinforcing key load zones and blended transitions between different panel materials.

Rip Stop Sleeve

The sleeve material on all our sails is a special weave preventing tears from traveling and holes from widening. Making your sail look and perform better for longer.

Folded Sleeve Edge

Along the rear edges of the mast sleeve, preventing fraying and premature wear and tear.

Tack Fairing

Molded and stitched, this ultra durable tack fairing offers protection for your board and feet, aerodynamics around your extension and a place to store your downhaul rope. Made from abrasion resistant textile, it even protects itself.

Full X-Ply Build.

Offering you a sail with no single panel unprotected, period. As much as we invest into our Bi-Ply wave window technology and as much as we trust our Monofilm freeride window quality, there’s nothing quite as dependable as X-Ply, especially when you’re treading far away from civilization and the conditions are firing.

Scrim body panels. Scrim is one third lighter than X-Ply and effectively stops tears from traveling. Its feeling is direct yet supple and gives sails an organic, smooth and alive touch. With scrim, the energy transfer from wind to membrane to stretch control to boom and into the rider’s hands is instant and electrifying.

Aramid foot panels. Found in our reinforced foot material, an additional blend of Aramid fibers provide increased protection against any deformations happening in the first place and against punctures from traveling, full stop.

Window.

Extended Window. For augmented visibility down the line and at the lip while bottom turning in wave sailing, as well as facilitated overview at the sailors around you in freeriding.

Black Window Frame. For best optics through the sail, ultra low reflection, ultra low distraction. The black frame has been a conscious as well as a unifying choice and provides total vision of your surroundings.

Black Window Yarns. Ultra Low Reflection. Black X-Ply yarns absorb all the light and move towards vanishing in appearance, as you look through the sail, offering the best possible undistracted view through the window.

Details

Nice to have. Nice to know.

Sleeve Opener.

At the top of the boom cut out. Makes sliding the mast into the sleeve that much more quick and easy.

Anti-Chafe Batten Ends.

Protecting the batten pocket leech ends of your sail when rigging on rough surfaces.

Tack Stitch Protection.

Safeguarding the tack area of your sail against stitch breaking from rough board textures.

Hanging Loop.

Lets you hang your sail to dry, or tie a rope, or stick a screwdriver to pull the mast when derigging.

6:1 Stainless Pulley.

Using all three rolls for an optimized power ratio.

USA Made Films.

All films on all Goya Windsurfing sails are made by Dimension-Polyant in the USA to our rigerous quality standards.

Soft Foot Piping.

Protecting your shins during tweaked maneuvers on wave sails, and your sail against the board deck on flatwater sails.

I have the gurus x for some years now
What is the replacement sail in the range
I want the same control and smooth power
Basically i will buy new gurus and be happy

Juan

Response: Hola Juan,

Thank you for reaching out and interest in our gear.

I hear you as the Guru was my favorite sail and the one that I used the most, but everything changed as we started to develop with new sail line with Kai Lenny, as he wanted a very maneuverable sail, easy to control yet progressive. So the Banzai Surf line started and every single person that tried them fell in love with it.

For the more power oriented riders like Braw, the Banzai 11 generation is the pinnacle sail and for those that love that 5 battens feel like Boujmaa, the Banzai Max would be the one.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything that I can help you with

All the best,

Francisco

Hey Jason,
There is another question, I have regarding my next travels.
I will be going to Mauritius and Indo
Taking only a banzai 5,0 and 4,5.
I need two mast for them, 370 and 400. in those condition better bring spares, adding up to 4 masts.
I thought about mixing mast, taking half a 370 and half a 400, which should fit on both sails.
So I would only have to take two masts instead of four.
What do you think of the idea?
Which parts should I take?
370 top or bottom?
Thanks

Marc

Hi Marc,

I don’t prefer to mix and match myself, but it does work ok, Francisco always rides it like that when possible, example the 4.2 with a 340 top, or the 5.0 with a 370 top.
As a rule you should always put the longer section on the bottom. This keeps the sail more stable overall and with better range than if you put the long section on top.

cheers Marc!

best,

Jason

I'm looking for a sail that I can use for all sorts of waves, slog 5.3 to over powered 3.7, and that can be rigged for Freestyle duck moves (tight leech very little down haul, no flop up top.) Can the Banzai Surf be rigged like this? I tried the Banzai max where that configuration did not work. This works well on my current Sailworks Revos but they have been discontinued, I rig with a looser leech for wave sailing and a completely tight leech for freestyle. Thanks

Response: Aloha Ryan,

Thank you for reaching out and considering our gear.

Yes, the Banzai\'s can be used both ways, with a looser or tighter leech. Also, one of our Freestyle riders even mentioned that he feels the Banzai Surf ducks better than the Cypher, so these new sails are shaking the standard.

What is your size/weight?

The only other option that I would recommend would be the Banzai 11 if you are above 190 lbs, as the longer boom does add a bit more grunt.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything that I can help you with,

Francisco

Hi Jason, hi Goya Team,
a few seasons ago i remerbered you saying i love this 3 batten Fringe sail. So do i, but it unfortunatly disappeared from your sail line. Guess most
prefer Banzai, how does the new Surf model compare?
Thank you for Info and best Regards
Rainer

Response: Hi Rainer,

It is great to hear from you.

When we developed the new Banzai Surf, we considered every concern, including yours about the Fringe sail. The Fringe was Jason’s and sometimes Kai Lenny\'s favorite sail for riding light wind waves. Banzai Surf addressed all those needs; in the last generation, all doubts were left behind. You can be confident that we have thoroughly addressed all concerns in our development process.

So, to your question, how does it compare? Well, there is no comparison. The Banzai Surf is more maneuverable, with an added forward drive, a higher range, and even lighter weight. There is not a box that Banzai Surf didn’t rated superior to our previous Fringe.

I\'m excited for you to experience the Banzai Surf sail. I\'ve seen how much people love it, and I\'m sure you will too. If for any reason you\'re not completely satisfied, please let me know.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Jason is traveling, but I will pass the message on to him.

All the best,

Francisco

HI Pascal,

How are you?

I am in El Medano now and was windsurfing here the last three weeks. I did try the new thruster and I must say that it is an incredible board. Early planing in quite low winds so 4,7 at 18 knots was able to plan. Turning is Quattro style incredible.

I must also say that with the Banzai sail I could sail with 4.2 several days in a row for hours. Before that I was dead in Cabezo after 2 hours on session. Now the combination of this board and sail is unique.
Should I order the new Banzai Pro or Banzai Surf.

Let me know how we can proceed.

Keep on surfing,

Jaka

It's the best sail I have ever used. I ride bump and jump conditions, and it's super balanced, effortless, and forward-driven.
